Welcome to Uncommon Canarsie Elementary School

Uncommon Canarsie Elementary School is located in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Canarsie. Students have the opportunity to attend the elementary academy for grades K to 4, and continue on to 不寻常卡纳西中学 for grades 5 to 8 and an Uncommon high school for grades 9 to 12.

10+ Years

In August 2013, Uncommon Canarsie Elementary School opened to serve 58 students in Kindergarten. We now serve students in all grades from Kindergarten through 8th grade.

Grades K-4

We are an elementary school serving grades K to 4. Scholars attend Uncommon Canarsie Middle School starting in grade 5.

Excellence in Learning

We provide all students with a rigorous curriculum that prepares them for college and beyond. We have a longer school day and school year to allow for more learning time, and provide after-school tutoring to ensure that all of our students meet our high academic expectations.

Uncommon Canarsie Elementary School ensures that all students receive a well-rounded education that will prepare them for success in high school, as well as college and beyond.

Emphasis on College

Uncommon Canarsie Elementary School begins educating students about the importance of college from day one and continues doing so through college readiness activities found in middle and high school. The goal is for freshman year of college to become a natural extension of graduating from high school.

Targeted Curriculum and Assessment

Uncommon Canarsie Elementary School develops its curriculum directly from the New York State Learning Standards that ensures students master a core set of basic academic skills before mastering higher-level material. We also use internally developed assessments to build a culture of continuous reflection and improvement.
