A Brotherhood of Excellence

Uncommon Excellence Boys Elementary and Middle School (K-8) is a school community dedicated to brotherhood. Under the guidance of passionate teachers and leaders – including many male role models who are also alums of our school and of HBCUs – you’ll see your child’s self-love and inner strength soar. Even more, our scholars learn that they can change the world for the better, as they prepare for success in college and beyond.

Uncommon Excellence Co-ed Pre-K Is Now Open!

Uncommon Excellence Boys alum, Elijah Megginson, regularly revisits his alma mater to inspire the next generation of Excellence. Elijah is currently enrolled at Morehouse College and has interned at The New York Times, BET, and NBA.

Uncommon Excellence Boys Elementary School Principal

Stanley Redon

Stanley joined Uncommon in 2018 as a founding kindergarten teacher at Uncommon Crown Heights Elementary.

In 2022, Stanley transitioned to UEBE as a 3rd-grade teacher and Instructional Leader and continued to lead students to success as 100% of his class achieved advanced or proficient on the 2023 NYS Math Exam. Stanley is excited to be at the helm of UEBE, ensuring it continues to prove the boundless potential of Black and Brown boys in the Bed-Stuy community!

Stanley holds a B.A. in Radio & Television from Brooklyn College and a Mater of Teaching in Early Childhood Education from Relay Graduate School of Education

Director of Operations, Uncommon Excellence Boys Elementary School

Michael Pittman

Michael joined Uncommon Schools in 2023 as a Director of Operations Fellow, and since then, he has supported schools including Uncommon Canarsie Middle School, Uncommon Brownsville North Elementary School and Uncommon Williamsburg Elementary School. Throughout the Summer of 2024, Michael also served as the Operations Director for our Middle School Summer Academy.

Michael holds a B.A. in International Relations and Spanish from the University of Rochester, and an M.A. in Education and Leadership from Johns Hopkins University.

Uncommon Excellence Boys Middle School Principal

Jermaine Issac

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Jermaine Isaac is a first-generation college student who’s passionate about education, media, and public service. Jermaine’s career began at the City Hall Council of NYC and Robert Half International, a corporate consultancy firm working on various projects for New York City.

Jermaine completed his master’s in public administration at Long Island University, is the honorable recipient of the Who’s Who Award, Youth of the Year in Baltimore as recognized from community leaders, and a Pi Alpha Alpha Public Administration Honor Society recipient.

At Uncommon, Jermaine has taught 7th grade English, served as an Instructional Leader, Summer Academy Director, Principal of Uncommon Bed-Stuy East Middle School, and now Principal at Excellence Boys Middle School.

Director of Operations, Uncommon Excellence Boys Middle School

Carla Quamina

Carla joined Uncommon Schools in 2020 as a Director of Operations Fellow at Brooklyn East Collegiate.

In 2022, Carla transitioned to UEBM as the Director of Operations, where she leads and develops operational staff and teachers around Excellence in professionalism, customer service, and providing our middle school boys with a world-class education.

Carla holds a B.A. from Clark Atlanta University and an M.A. from Purdue University.
